Thanks Deb. But I don't think it is exactly that - it does look similar, could be related.

Hey Charles - nice macro. I don't know the name of the flower. I can tell you though that it is of the Aster Family. These are the composite flowers (sunflowers, piss-da-beds and the like) which basically means the photo is actually quite a number of flowers put together. My guess is this is a type of Echinacea (like the cold remedy.) These are composites that have a fat little centre.

It likely has a very pretty little gardening name, this is probably not a wild variety?

Beautiful colour isn't it.
